Key benefits

You and your family can enjoy worldwide cover (except Cuba) and peace of mind when on your adventures. You’ll have the support you need when something goes wrong. Here's some of the key benefits below:

Unlimited overseas medical expenses if you’re injured or are ill abroad.

Cancelling your holiday or cutting it short unexpectedly – up to £5,000 per person.

Personal property of up to £2,000 (a single item limit of £300 applies) that is lost, stolen or damaged.

Overseas legal expenses up to £25,000 if your injury is caused by a third party.

UK trips included if pre-booked and at least 2 nights stay per trip.

Travel delay payment of £20 (up to £250) for every 12-hour delay to public transport, including flight delays.

Winter sports cover.

Key exclusions

The travel insurance that comes with the Santander Edge Explorer current account doesn't cover everything, so it's important you understand what you're not covered for. Here are some of the key points:

Anything related to a medical condition that you haven’t told Chubb about or if you're travelling against your doctor's advice.

Trips that don’t start and end in the UK.

Flight delays under 12 hours.

Travel to an area where the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) has advised against any travel that isn’t essential (except for cancellation claims).

Financial failure of your travel provider or organiser.

Trips lasting more than 31 days or more than 21 days if it includes winter sports. You can cover for up to 62 days in a row if you purchase the optional upgrade cover 'Trip Extension' with Chubb.

A cancellation claim for illness without evidence.

You won't be covered if you've been diagnosed with a terminal condition, or if you're travelling to obtain medical treatment against medical advice.

Money, passports or valuables left unattended (unless locked away).

Who is covered?

Worldwide travel insurance covers you and your partner up to the age of 75 (cover ends for everyone once the account holder is 75) and any dependent children or grandchildren under 18 who live at the same address (23 or under if in full-time education).

Your family members are only covered if you (or a joint account holder) are also on the trip with them.

When does cover start?

Travel cover starts as soon as your Santander Edge Explorer current account is open. Your trip must begin after the period of insurance starts and must begin and end in the UK.

Pre-existing medical conditions

A medical condition is considered to be pre-existing if it’s diagnosed before you booked your trip or took out the policy. Chubb can cover for some pre-existing medical conditions but only if you’ve told them. In some cases, the terms of your policy might change, or you might have to pay extra. It's important you declare all of your family's medical conditions and medications as soon as your account is opened, or if anything changes after this. You can do this by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app and click on 'Take me to Chubb'. If you don't, your policy might be invalid. This could result in a claim being declined.

You must tell Chubb if you or anyone to be covered by the policy:

• have any pre-existing medical conditions and what these are.
• have a health change. This means if you’re diagnosed with or treated for a condition after taking out this policy but before going on a trip.
• are currently being investigated by a doctor or have seen a specialist or consultant. This includes if you’re waiting for treatment or test results, or to be referred to a specialist.
• have stayed at or been treated in hospital or had surgery.
• have been prescribed any medication. You must take any medication recommended or prescribed to you by a doctor.

You won’t be covered if you’ve been diagnosed with a terminal condition, or if you’re travelling to obtain medical treatment against medical advice.

Alternative medical cover

If Chubb can't cover a particular condition, there are other options. Visit the Money and Pensions Scheme (MaPs) directory to find specialist travel insurance providers, or call 0800 138 7777, Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm.

What can you do to make claiming easier?

In the event of a claim, you must give accurate answers to the questions Chubb ask. Failure to do so could result in your policy being invalid and could mean that all or part of a claim might not be paid.

How to submit a claim

It's quick and easy to submit an online claim, log in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app and click on 'Take me to Chubb’.

If you’re abroad and in need of emergency help, call Chubb Assistance on +44 (0) 800 519 8036. Lines are open 24/7.

For non-emergencies, call Chubb on 0800 519 8035 if you are calling from the UK. Or call on +44 (0)203 964 3335 if you are calling from abroad. Lines are open from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

Optional upgrades

Several optional cover extensions are available for an additional cost. You can purchase these directly from Chubb by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app, once your Santander Edge Explorer current account is open. These include: 

• Cruise cover
• Golf cover
• Trip extension – up to 62 days
• Hazardous activities
• Excess waiver
• Car hire excess waiver

FCDO

Before you book your trip, you should check the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) website for information about the country you’re travelling to. You are not covered for travel to an area where the FCDO has advised against all travel or all but essential travel (except for cancellation claims).

Additional information 

Partners (who are not named on the account) and children are only covered for trips that include at least one account holder. When you submit a claim, you’ll be required to pay a £75 excess per person, per section (unless optional upgrade cover 'Excess waiver' has been purchased).

Missed Departure is only covered for public transport not arriving on schedule, or your car/taxi suffering a breakdown or accident. Travel Delay, Travel Abandonment and Missed Departure benefits only apply to scheduled outbound international departures. Internal flights in the UK are not included.

24/7 GP remote access is arranged by Chubb and provided by Teladoc Health UK

Key benefits

With your Santander Edge Explorer current account, you get access to phone or video consultations with a doctor, wherever you are in the UK. You can ask any health-related questions, and they can be booked 24 hours a day (subject to availability).

Services include:

Advice available 24/7, 365 days a year (subject to appointment availability).

Choice of phone or video consultation.

Advice on mild to moderate ailments.

Access to your consultation notes and information.

Prescriptions which are automatically sent, or medicine can be delivered to a chosen location.

Private specialist referrals.

Short term sick notes.

When needed, you can also upload any additional medical information you might have for Teladoc to examine in conjunction with your symptoms, so they have a complete picture of your situation. For example, if you have pictures of rashes or skin conditions or perhaps medication that you’re taking, you can attach it to your consultation and the medical team will evaluate it.

This service is not available outside of the UK.  If you’re abroad, in need of emergency help, call Chubb Assistance on +44 (0) 800 519 8036. Lines are open 24/7.

Who is covered?

24/7 GP remote access covers you, your partner, and any dependent children under 18 who live at the same home address. Dependents are covered up until 23 if they’re still in full-time education.

When does cover start?

24/7 GP remote access cover starts as soon your Santander Edge Explorer current account is open.

What can you do to make claiming easier?

Before you can book an appointment, you, your partner and any dependent children over 18, will need to register their ID with Teladoc as they will need to complete an ID verification process. Teladoc ask you to verify your identity because it helps them provide a safe and effective service. If Teladoc need to safeguard your wellbeing or react to an emergency situation, they need to be sure of your identity. The verification process also supports the transfer of information between Teladoc and other organisations like the NHS when you provide consent. It’s also a regulatory requirement by the Care Quality Commission, who regulate health and social care services across the country.

When you register with the service or request an appointment, you’ll be prompted to complete ID verification either on screen or via a link that Teladoc will send you so you can submit proof of identity. You’ll need to:

• Upload a picture of a photo ID document, most commonly a passport or driving license
• Upload a recent 'selfie' which Teladoc can compare to the picture on your photo ID

If you want to book an appointment for an eligible child, you’ll need to provide proof of parental responsibility for that child. Teladoc will contact you to request the relevant documentation. You must also have verified your own identity before the appointment can go ahead.

How to make an appointment

To request a GP appointment, log in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app and click on ‘Take me to Teladoc’. If you have any issues with requesting a consultation, please call Teladoc on 0203 695 6364 from the UK, where one of Teladoc advisors will be happy to assist you. Lines are open 24/7.

Additional information

It’s important to note that Teladoc do not provide an emergency service. If you’re seriously unwell and experiencing a medical emergency, you should call 111, 999 or go straight to your nearest Accident and Emergency or urgent care centre. Conditions Teladoc can’t treat remotely include:

• Chest pains
• Shortness of breath
• Severe abdominal pain
• Heavy bleeding
• Thoughts of suicide or self-harm
• Seizures
• Loss of consciousness/blackouts
• High fever in an infant

UK & European breakdown cover is underwritten by AWP P&C SA and administered by Allianz Assistance, a trading name of AWP Assistance UK Ltd.

Key benefits

This provides breakdown cover if you need assistance in the UK or Europe, day or night. You're covered whether you are the driver or a passenger.

What’s included if you break down in the UK:

Assistance at the roadside, or at home, day or night.

Diagnosis and repair of the vehicle fault or if we can’t fix it at the roadside, we'll take you, and your vehicle, to the nearest garage or your home address.

Unlimited call-outs - excludes similar fault breakdowns within the last 28 days.

Replacement vehicle if we can't fix yours or public transportation up to £50 per person or overnight accommodation up to a maximum limit of £500.

What’s included if you break down abroad:

Assistance at the roadside or where you’re staying.

Recovery to the nearest garage for repair.

Replacement vehicle, onward travel arrangements or hotel accommodation up to the value of £60 per person and maximum limit of £500, if garage repair of your vehicle isn’t an option.

Recovery to the UK.

Cover is valid for 90 consecutive days.

Key exclusions

The breakdown cover that comes with the Santander Edge Explorer current account doesn't cover everything, so it's important you understand what you're not covered for. Here are some of the key points below:

You're not covered if you break down in the first 24 hours after your account's been opened.

Vehicles exceeding the weight limits or size restrictions.

Commercially used vehicles - for example taxis, ambulances, rental cars, delivery vehicles, vans, driving school cars and caravans.

Faults due to lack of routine maintenance.

Repeat breakdowns that occur within 28 days of Allianz attending to a breakdown caused by the same or similar fault.

Who is covered?

UK & European breakdown cover is only for the policyholder(s), including if it is a joint account. If you want to add any additional family members, you’ll need to add the family breakdown cover at an additional cost.

When does cover start?

UK & European breakdown cover starts 24 hours after opening your Santander Edge Explorer current account.

How to make a claim

To request assistance, log in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app and click on ‘Take me to Allianz'.

Alternatively, you can call Allianz 24-hour Breakdown Assistance in the UK on 0800 587 9811 or +44 20 343 3388 if you are calling from abroad.

Optional family breakdown cover

Optional add-on family cover is available to purchase directly with the insurer. You can purchase this directly from Allianz Assistance by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app once your Santander Edge Explorer current account is open.

Additional information

You won’t be covered if your vehicle doesn’t meet legal requirements for example, if its unsafe, unroadworthy, unlawful, untaxed without a valid MOT or uninsured.

There is no excess to pay in the event of a call-out.

Worldwide family mobile phone insurance is administered by Likewize Device Protection UK Limited and underwritten by Aviva Insurance Limited.

Key benefits

Here are some of the key benefits:

Worldwide cover for loss, theft, accidental damage or breakdown of up to 4 mobile phones (repairs and replacements are carried out in the UK only but will cover incidents that happen Worldwide).

You can claim for a maximum of 4 incidents which occur in any 12-month period (starting from the date of the first claim).

For phones that have broken down or been damaged, Likewize will arrange for your mobile phone to be repaired, with most customers having the option to have a repair van come to them.

A refurbished replacement mobile phone with a similar specification will be provided, if your mobile phone can’t be repaired or it’s been lost or stolen.

If you incur unauthorised network charges when your mobile phone has been lost or stolen, you’re covered up to £2,000 for contract and £100 for Pay As You Go phones.

Covered for lost, stolen or damaged phone accessories at the same time as your mobile phone, for up to £250 per claim.

Foldable mobile phones with an unfolded screen greater than 8 inches.

Gadgets and connected home devices.

Rented mobile phones.

What can you do to make claiming easier?

Register your mobile phone(s) with Likewize in advance to make any future claim easier for you. It’s quick and simple to register your mobile phone by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app. You’ll need your phone make, model and IMEI number. If your phone has two IMEI numbers, please provide the first. You can find your IMEI number on the box or receipt for your mobile phone, or by dialling *#06# on your mobile phone’s keypad.

If you need to make a claim, you must give accurate answers to the questions Likewize ask. Failure to do so could result in your policy being invalid and could mean that all or part of a claim might not be paid. You might also be asked to provide proof of purchase, Likewize will help you with this.

If you require assistance with accessing online services or do not have online access, please call on 0800 088 5819 if you are calling from the UK or call on +44 800 088 5819 if you are calling from abroad. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am–8pm, Saturday 9am–6pm, and Sunday 10am–5pm. Bank Holidays lines are open 10am-5pm. Please note the contact centre is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but you can still make an online claim, as above.

Repairs and replacements will only be arranged when you’re in the UK.

Only mobile phones that you and your family own and use on a daily basis are covered. For each successful repair claim, you’ll be charged an excess of £75. An additional £60 will be chargeable if a repair is not successful, so we can provide a replacement mobile phone. For each successful replacement claim, you’ll be charged an excess of £135.

You’ll need to provide proof of purchase or supporting documentation for any claim.
