Use your mobile phone to pay people with Paym

Paym is a mobile-to-mobile service that lets you send and receive up to £250 a day quickly and securely using just a mobile number.

It's offered by many banks, so as long as the person you're sending a payment to is registered for Paym with their own bank, you can send them payments using just their mobile number.

Paym is available to you if you use Online and Mobile Banking. All you need to do is register your current account in Online Banking to receive money, then use our mobile banking app to send money from your mobile phone using the mobile number of the person you’re sending the money to. There’s no need for account numbers or sort codes.

If in the future you no longer wish to receive payments through Paym or change the mobile number you use with Paym, please call Online Banking support on 0800 917 9170

You're safe because

  • You use your Online Banking log in details: transactions are completely secure behind Online and Mobile Banking.
  • You don't need to share your bank details: people who pay you through Paym only need your mobile phone number.
  • We send you a One Time Passcode: when you register for Paym or ask to change the way you use it, we'll double check it’s you by sending a One Time Passcode to your mobile.
  • You're covered by our Online and Mobile Banking Commitment: as long as you take precautions if in the unlikely event funds are taken from your account as a result of fraud, we’ll refund you and restore your account to the state it would have been in had the unauthorised payment transaction not taken place.

If you lose or change your mobile phone

Your bank details are still secure. We don't store account information on your phone and Mobile Banking is protected by the security details that you enter when you log on. For this reason as long as you’ve kept your log on details private your accounts will be secure.

If you change your phone number, you'll need to call us on 0800 917 9170 to let us know, and re-register to send payments through Paym using your new device. If you keep the same phone number, you'll just need to re-register for Paym with your device.
