Fees, charges and key documents

Keeping you up-to-date

It’s natural to be interested in the performance of your investments,

but it’s just as important to know the fees and charges.

Investment platform fee

All investment providers charge a fee for using their investment platform. At Santander all your investments are held and managed on our Investment Hub,

Plus:

  • The fee is calculated daily and charged twice yearly (just after 1 May and 1 November each year).
  • The annual fee lets us provide a secure platform for transactions and arranging the investments, as well as help for you through our investment centre helpline.
  • Our fee is a percentage of your total investments on the Investment Hub. The more you invest, the lower percentage fee you'll pay, though only when you reach certain amounts. See our examples below for more details.

0.35%

a year on first £50k

0.20%

a year on £50k to £500k

0.10%

a year on £500k+

For example if:

You invest

£10k

Our fee

0.35% p.a

You pay

£35 a year

The maths:

£10k x 0.35% = £35

Advice fee

To help you invest you can also choose to receive investment advice either from one of our qualified advisers or through our Digital Investment Adviser. Both have their own one-off charge:

Digital investment advice

£20

Person-to-person advice

£500+

Fund charges

There are costs and charges to managing an investment fund, which are deducted from the value of the fund by the fund manager, so you won’t get a bill.

The figure you pay can be found in the relevant fund’s Key Investor Information Document (KIID) and is referred to as the Ongoing Charge Figure (OCF). The OCF is always shown as an annual percentage figure, so that you can compare the charge on different funds.

How to pay the platform service fee

The easiest way to pay for the platform service fee is by setting up a Direct Debit.

If no Direct Debit is set up and there isn’t enough cash in your Investment Hub Cash Account, we’ll need to sell some of your investments to cover the fees due.

Example 1

If the total amount invested in funds is £10,000. Then the annualised total fee would be calculated as follows:

Value held in Investment Hub% p.a. on this sliceFee on this slice
£10,0000.35%£35.00 (0.35% x £10,000)

Total Platform Service Fee per year: £35.00

Example 2

If the total amount invested in funds is £200,000. Then the annualised total fee would be calculated as follows:

Value held in Investment Hub % p.a. on this sliceFee on this slice
£50,0000.35%£175.00 (0.35% x £50,000)
£150,0000.20%£300.00 (0.20% x £150,000)

Total Platform Service Fee per year: £475.00

You can find more details about the Platform Service Fee in the Investment Hub Key Features Document (320 KB). It also includes detail on other fees, charges, interest rates and our best execution policy.
