Travel Insurance Guidance:
We understand that the evolving situation in the Middle East, including developments relating to Iran, may be causing concern, particularly if you have upcoming travel plans or are currently abroad.
If you hold a Santander Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip Worldwide Family Travel Insurance policy or Santander Travel Insurance policy through your Edge Explorer current account – both arranged, administered, and underwritten by Chubb European Group SE (CEG), – we want to provide some general guidance on what this may mean for your cover.
1. Check Foreign Office advice
Travel insurance policies typically rely on advice issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). You can check the latest advice for your destination at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
If the FCDO advises against all travel, or all but essential travel, to your destination after you booked your trip, please contact us (see details below), and the insurer will assess your position in line with the policy terms and conditions.
If the FCDO advisory was already in place before you booked your trip or before your policy was purchased (whichever is later), cover may not apply under the policy terms and conditions.
2. If you have not yet travelled
If your destination is now subject to new FCDO advice against travel, please contact your travel provider in the first instance to explore refund or rebooking options. If those costs are not recoverable, you may then contact us (see details below), and the insurer will assess any claim in line with the policy terms and conditions.
3. If you are currently abroad
Your safety is the priority.
Follow local authority and FCDO guidance.
If you need emergency medical assistance, call the emergency assistance number shown in your policy documentation, or use the contact details below.
Keep receipts and records of any additional costs you incur as a direct result of the disruption.
4. Claims and support
Before submitting a claim, please review your policy wording carefully. Exclusions may apply, for example in relation to war, civil unrest, or events that were known or foreseeable at the time of booking. For guidance on your specific circumstances, contact us using the details below.
5. Staying informed
We recommend checking the FCDO travel advice page for your destination regularly and signing up for email alerts where available.

Stay safe from fraud
Fraudsters may exploit this situation for their own gain, for example by impersonating travel companies. You should only contact your travel company directly using their official channels. Avoid using search engines or social media to find contact details.
Be wary of anyone getting in touch claiming to be able to help you get a ‘refund’, as this is very likely to be a scam.
Never share card details and one-time passcodes, if you’re being asked for this information, it’s a scam. If you think you’re the victim of a fraud or scam see our information on how to report fraud
Section 75
If your travel plans are impacted, you should first contact your travel provider to find an alternative solution. If they’re not able to help, you can contact us to raise a card dispute or Section 75 claim
