Make a claim online
If you have a Santander Home Insurance policy administered and underwritten by Aviva Insurance Limited you can make your claim online with Aviva (except Legal services and Home emergency cover).
Before you get started
You’ll need to have your insurance policy number to hand, this starts with MHO or MTH (you can find this in your policy documents or in Online Banking). It may also be useful to have some of the following information when registering your details:
- receipts, quotes or invoices
- photos of damaged or lost property.
What to expect when you make a claim
- You can report your claim online 24/7.
- In most instances, Aviva will let you know your excess, your level of cover and the approximate value of your claim.
- Aviva will give you an instant decision on the outcome of your claim, where possible.
- Aviva may appoint one of their specialist suppliers or contractors to deal with your claim.
- If Aviva need to contact you about your claim, Aviva will aim to get back to you within 2 hours Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm. Outside these hours Aviva may not be able to contact you until the next working day. If you need help sooner, call Aviva on 0345 301 0661.
If there’s been an emergency
Call Aviva on 0345 301 0661 to get help as soon as possible. Lines are open 24/7, 365 days a year. The cost of calls to 03 prefixed numbers are charged at national call rates (charges may vary dependent on your network provider) and are usually included in inclusive minute plans from landlines and mobiles.
When you start a claim you’ll be taken to a secure Aviva site. Aviva will then administer and handle your claim.

When you make a claim between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, your Aviva Personal Claims Manager will aim to contact you within 2 hours to take the details and explain what happens next.
