Linking external accounts with Open Banking
You can now view a selection of external financial accounts in one place in our mobile banking app.
With Open Banking, you can link your accounts in our mobile banking app so you can view your money with Santander and other providers. You choose which accounts you want to link, and you can switch this feature off any time you like.
To get started, log on to Mobile Banking. Then, on the home screen, tap ‘More’ in the bottom right-hand corner.
From the ‘More’ menu, tap ‘Linked accounts’.
From here, you can start linking an account from another provider. Tap ‘Get started’.
You should now see a pop-up window saying ‘Success’. This means your device has been authenticated and you can start linking your accounts. To move on click ‘Got it’.
You can now start linking your accounts from here. You can also manage the consents you hold with other providers.
Tap ‘Link an account’ to get started.
You may find it useful to read our terms and conditions for linked accounts. You can also read our FAQs if you have any questions, these can be found by logging on to Mobile Banking, tapping 'More', choosing 'Linked accounts', then 'Learn more'.
Tap on the provider you’d like to link to your Santander account.
If you see that a provider is greyed out, this means that you're temporarily unable to link your account to one from that provider. However, you should be able to try again soon.
You'll then be shown our 'Terms and Conditions' and 'Data Protection Statement’.
Once you’ve scrolled to the bottom and you’re happy, tap ‘Accept’.
You’ll now be shown information which explains what sort of data you’ll be allowing us to get from your chosen provider.
If you’d like to continue to link this provider tap ‘Continue’.
If you want to continue to link your account from this provider, tap ‘Yes, continue’.
You can also tap ‘Cancel’ if you no longer want to link your account from this provider.
You’ll be redirected to the provider, either in your device's internet browser or into their app if you have it installed. You'll be asked to log on to the mobile or online banking service of your chosen provider. Once you've done so, choose the account you want to link and accept to continue. This may take a few moments to complete.
You’ll be redirected back into the Santander mobile banking app.
If you’ve successfully linked your accounts, you’ll now see a message welcoming you back to the app and confirming that your account has successfully linked to your chosen provider's account.
To continue tap ‘Back to linked accounts’.
From the home screen, you’ll now be able to see your linked accounts there, alongside your Santander accounts. You can see some account details including your account balance.
If you tap on one of your linked accounts, you can see even more information (such as your transaction history) for that account, and when your consent for it expires.
You can see all the accounts you currently have linked back in the 'Linked accounts' menu. You can also see when the consent for each expires.
Consent for a linked account automatically expires after 90 days. Therefore, if you'd like to continue seeing the accounts from this provider in your Santander Mobile Banking app, you'll need to renew the consent.
To renew or remove your consent, first tap on a specific provider from the Linked accounts' list.
You'll see the details for this provider, including the status of your consent for the account(s) you have linked.
If your consent has expired, tap 'Renew consent' at the bottom of the screen.
You can remove your consent to unlink an account at any time by tapping 'Remove consent' at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to renew your consent, you’ll need go through the same steps as when you originally linked your account.
If you choose to remove your consent, you'll see a message letting you know that the removal was successful. You'll no longer see any information related to that account.
To go back to the 'Linked accounts' menu, tap 'Back to linked accounts'.
