Offers and cashback
Our overdraft services aren't available on this account. Generally, this means we won't let you make a payment out of the account if there isn’t enough money in it. However, very occasionally, there may be times where you make a payment that we can't stop, which will take the account balance below zero. We won't charge you for this.
Adults holding the account for a child aged under 11
For those under the age of 11, the account must be opened and managed by an adult in trust.
When the child reaches 11, the trustee can choose:
If the trust status isn’t removed by the time the young person is 18, the interest rate on the account will change to 0.10% AER/gross (variable), unless we notify you otherwise. At this point, the account can't be transferred to another account in our range but the young person can apply for an adult current account in their own name. We’ll get in touch with more information near the young persons 18th birthday.
Accounts cannot be opened in trust for children aged 11 or over.
Young people holding the account in their own name (not in trust)
Online Banking and much more
You can keep track of the account with your phone or computer, or visit one of our branches if you'd like to ask us a question or carry out any transactions.
For accounts held in your name, the account is for you to manage. If you're one of our younger customers you can ask an adult for any help you might need. However, as it's your account, they won't be able to manage it for you.
For accounts held in trust, the trustee will be in charge of the account and can manage it through their Online and Mobile Banking.
Account alerts (not applicable to accounts held in trust)
By 2nd February 2018 we’ll automatically send you alerts about your balance and payments e.g. when you’re in a negative balance, a payment has gone unpaid or you need to pay money in to cover a payment. These alerts are free, and will be sent by text message or email if we don’t have your mobile number.
Once your account has been registered for these alerts, you can update your alert settings, including switching the alerts off, at any time by logging onto Online Banking, visiting one of our branches or by calling us on 0800 9 123 123.
