Santander UK announced today the appointment of Susan Allen as Head of Retail and Business Banking.

Susan will be responsible for all of Santander's UK Retail and Business banking operations spanning 15 million customers and a nationwide network of branches and customer contact centres.

She is currently Head of Customer Interactions within the Retail division with responsibility for leading for all of Santander’s retail contact centres, branches, provision of wealth and private banking and Cater Allen services.

Prior to joining Santander in 2015 as Chief Transformation Officer, Susan worked for RBS for over 25 years in a variety of roles including CEO, Customer Solutions Group, Commercial and Private Banking at RBS, supporting a wide range of businesses from SME’s to major international corporates.

Susan replaces Javier San Felix who after three years in the role is returning to the Santander Group.

Susan will start her role by the end of the year, subject to regulatory approval.

Biography 
Susan has worked in the Financial Services industry for over 25 years and has extensive experience spreading across Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Global Banking, Operations and strategic central functional roles.

Before joining Santander Susan was the CEO, Customer Solutions Group, Commercial and Private Banking at RBS, which included the UK asset management, invoice finance, cash and trade businesses supporting a wide range of businesses from SME’s to major international corporates. 

Since joining Santander in 2015 she has held the positions of Chief Transformation Officer and Managing Director, UK Banking. She is now currently the Head of Customer Interactions and sits on the Executive Committee. Her responsibilities encompass the leadership for all of Santander’s retail contact centres, branches, provision of wealth and private banking and Cater Allen services.

Throughout her career Susan has been a champion of diversity and inclusivity and is currently the Executive Sponsor of the Santander LGBT network. Under her leadership and guidance the network has trebled in membership and been recognised externally for its progressive achievements. She is also an active sponsor of the Santander Returnships, Apprenticeships and Traineeships, all of which reflect her personal drive and commitment to ensure we have a working environment that allows everyone to thrive.
