Santander UK has announced that customers with either a Mastercard debit or credit card will now be able to set a lower limit for contactless transactions, ranging from £5 to £95. The limit, which can be increased in £5 increments, can be amended via online chat accessed either through the mobile banking app or online banking. The standard contactless limit is £100. 
Customers with a Mastercard debit or credit card can turn the contactless functionality off using their mobile app. A non-contactless card can also be requested.

New cards issued will continue to require the PIN to be used before contactless payments can be made. Periodically the PIN will be required in order to authenticate the transaction. 
If customers lose or have their card stolen, they should report it to their bank straight away.
