Pink Rooster has received £5,000 to fund music and sound therapy sessions for people living with dementia, mental health and life limiting conditions in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.

The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation, which offers Discovery Grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.

Pink Rooster provides music, creative arts, sound therapy and assistive technology to help reduce social isolation and improve health and wellbeing for people living with dementia and other mental health and life limiting conditions

The grant will enable the charity to deliver up to 15 interactive music and sound therapy sessions and to purchase additional musical instruments to enhance the experiences of those taking part in the music and therapy sessions.

David Maxwell at Pink Rooster said: “The grant will help to reduce social isolation for our beneficiaries and allow them to enjoy music activities which they can share with their carers and families. Our sound therapy will also provide one to one treatment to help reduce the effects of dementia such as stress, depression, aggression, anxiety as well as improve their overall health and wellbeing."

Roseanne Davies, Branch Director at Santander’s Kettering branch, said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. We are committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Pink Rooster, and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people."
