Manchester-based airborne Environmental Consultants Ltd grows its south east office with funding from Santander

Manchester-headquartered Airborne Environmental Consultants Ltd (AEC), one of the UK’s leading independent consultants and training providers, has acquired a new office in the South East and plans to hire more staff following a six-figure funding deal with Santander Business Banking. The firm will now be able to embark on the next stage of its growth journey, having purchased the freehold of its new premises based in Brentwood, Essex.

Established in 1997 by Robert Harris and Amanda Reid to provide asbestos consultancy, AEC today has over 135 full-time staff working to provide services across asbestos, Legionella and water hygiene, health and safety, and fire safety. It is one of the leading training providers within the industry, with a 24% higher pass rate for British Occupational Hygiene Society courses than the national average. In July this year, the business won the Innovation category at the UKATA Excellence Awards 2018 for their new training facility – Hazard House.

Santander has not only provided AEC with funding to support the new office, as well as the purchase of new vehicles and the employment of new staff but the business was also introduced to the bank’s dedicated Breakthrough programme to support SME customers. Among other things, the programme offers AppInsitute masterclasses, and the management team plan to take on Breakthrough part-funded interns.

Mandy Reid, Director, Airborne Environmental Consultants Ltd, said, “It has been fascinating to build and grow AEC over the past two decades into the award-winning business it is today. Our appetite for continued growth is undiminished and the support from Santander has been crucial in allowing us to secure our new office and expand our team.”

Debbie Worthington, Business Relationship Director, Santander Business Banking, said: “AEC is growing through strong client relationships and services with excellent reputation in the market and the new Brentwood office is set to accelerate their success and growth further. Santander Business Banking is dedicated to bringing competition to the market and challenging the big four to really support the growth of great UK businesses like AEC.”
