Emergency cash and card replacement

If your card is lost or stolen abroad you can get an emergency cash advance within 24 hours or an emergency card replacement within 48 hours worldwide.

Minimum repayment

You must make the minimum repayment each month.

0% interest on balance transfers

  • You can transfer balances from £100 up to 95% of your credit limit.  
  • You can’t transfer balances from other Santander or cahoot credit cards or from any type of loan or current account.
  • At the end of the 0% period, a 3% balance transfer fee will apply to any new balance transfers. Interest will be charged on any outstanding balances and new balance transfers at the standard rate of 18.9% p.a. (variable).

If you request a balance transfer as part of your application it'll happen automatically if you activate your card within 45 days of receiving it.

0% interest on purchases

At the end of the 0% period, interest will be charged on any outstanding balances and new purchases at the standard rate of 18.9% p.a. (variable).

Purchases and cash withdrawals abroad

You won’t be charged foreign transaction fees on purchases and cash withdrawals made abroad in the local currency.

If you choose to pay in sterling, the retailer or bank will handle the conversion and may charge you a fee.

Cash transaction fees will be charged on all cash withdrawals and interest will be charged on the cash you take out from the day it’s withdrawn.

Is a credit card right for my borrowing needs?

A credit card can be very expensive if you're not careful how you use it. It is best used when you can pay off the full balance quickly.

 

What interest and charges might apply?

Cash withdrawals are more expensive than purchases because you start paying interest immediately and will be charged a fee for each cash withdrawal made in the UK or abroad.

We charge a monthly fee of £15 for this credit card. We don’t charge a balance transfer fee on any balance transfers made during the introductory period. We can change the fees (including the monthly fee and amending the balance transfer fees) and interest rates on your card. We'll let you know in advance if we plan to do this.

Any introductory rate we offer you starts from the date your account is opened.

How much will I have to pay under the credit agreement?

It will cost you more if you only make your monthly minimum payments. It will cost you less if you pay off the full balance quickly.

 

What are the consequences to me if I do not keep up repayments?

If you miss your minimum payment you get charged a £12 fee, plus the interest keeps building up, so you end up paying back more. We will also record details with a credit reference agency and your credit rating could go down which would make it harder to get future credit. If you miss multiple repayments, your credit rating can be damaged and you might have legal proceedings brought against you. In the very worst case your debt might be secured against your house or your debt may be transferred to a debt management company. To avoid getting into this situation, please contact us if you are having difficulties in making your repayments.

 

Changing your mind

You can change your mind up to 14 days after you receive your card. If you do this, you must repay anything you owe.

 

Paper-free

  • Paper-free means we send your statements and other important information, including change of account terms and arrears notices, to your e-Documents in Online Banking.

  • We may occasionally still need to send some correspondence by post.

  • Your account will be set to paper-free but after it’s opened you can ask to receive your information by post instead using Online or Mobile Banking, in a branch or by phone.

 

To apply, you must answer yes to the following. 

  • I live in the UK and can provide 3 years’ address history (if you’ve lived abroad in the last 3 years, please apply in branch).
  • I haven’t been declared bankrupt, had a CCJ or an IVA within the last 6 years.
  • I accept the Key Facts Document and Terms & Conditions.

Credit check
When you apply, a credit check will be carried out which will show on your credit file.

Your contact preferences
During the application you’ll be asked if you want to hear about products, services and offers that may be of interest. Please note the preferences you select will override any previous preferences given. If you’d like to amend those preferences please contact us at any time.

Credit limit increase preferences
During your application we’ll ask if you want us to increase your credit limit in the future:

  • If you answer yes, we’ll automatically increase your credit limit but we’ll let you know before the changes are made so you have the option to decline it
  • If you answer no, we’ll send you details of the increase and you’ll need to contact us to accept it
