Central Fund: £40 million donated to UK charities since 1990
Through the Santander Foundation, charities that benefit disadvantaged people in terms of education and training or financial capability can be awarded grants of up to £10,000.
Community Plus: helping local charities
Staff and customers nominate worthwhile charities that help local disadvantaged people. Charities can also nominate themselves for the awards which are made every 2 months and can be for up to £5,000.
Over £500 million donated globally
Since 1997 we've worked to help the development and prosperity of society by supporting higher education. The money we've donated has helped provide:
support for special projects
academic and non-academic awards
Today, 72 UK universities are part of the scheme, with over 1,020 worldwide.
Helping UK social enterprises
Launched in 2012, SEDA has already helped over 170 social enterprises support employment, regeneration and local economic growth.
Prizes range from £5,000 to £20,000 and, to be considered, social enterprises should provide:
details of their growth potential
plans to increase their impact in at least one of these areas: employment and training, a greener environment or improving social inclusion
With their prize, winners also have access to a free programme of business support which includes advice from specialist consultancy Inspire 2 Enterprise.
Employees raise millions for UK charities
Our employees go to considerable lengths every year to raise money for charities across the country and, to encourage them to continue, we match any amounts they raise.
Charity of the Year
This year's charity is the NSPCC and our aim is to raise £1m.
In 2013 we raised £1.4m for our Charity of the Year, CLIC Sargent.
We have a long list of national charities that meet our criteria for Charity of the Year and we write to them each year inviting them to apply.

British Heart Foundation support
To improve health and raise funds for vital research into heart disease we have a long-term partnership with the British Heart Foundation where we support the charity's cycling events programme.
Many of our employees choose to donate to charities directly through their salary, tax free, so every £1 they donate actually only costs them 80p.
Employees are encouraged to help their favourite causes by a matched time scheme where we give up to 35 hours of paid work time per year to employees so they can volunteer during normal working hours.
Employees are also encouraged to take a day out from the office to volunteer with a local cause. Every year over 1,500 employees support around 150 projects across the country, working on conservation and regeneration projects and educational schemes with schools.
