There is no upper age limit on any of the policies and you can choose from

  • An annual multi-trip or a single trip policy

  • European or worldwide (excluding Cuba) cover

  • A family, couple or individual policy

  • A range of optional cover extensions for an additional cost including winter sports and golf cover (see the optional cover extensions tab)

We'll give you an online discount if you are an existing Santander customer

  • 1|2|3 World* or Santander Select customers will receive a 30% online discount

  • Other Santander customers will receive a 20% online discount

  • These discounts will apply to the main policy and also to any optional cover extensions you may choose to buy

Children go free on family policies - there may be a cost if cover is required for a child's medical condition

  • Up to 7 dependent children under the age of 18, or under 23 if in full time education, go free on all family policies

  • They may be your child or grandchild - includes step, fostered and adopted children

Santander Travel Insurance includes cover for:

  • Unlimited medical expenses if you’re injured or become ill abroad.

  • Up to £5,000 if you have to cancel, shorten or abandon your holiday due to circumstances you were unaware of when you took out the policy.

  • Personal property of up to £2,000 (a single item limit of £300 applies) that is lost, stolen or damaged. You're not covered for money, passports or valuables left unattended (unless locked away).

  • Essential items of clothing, toiletries or medication of up to £200, if your bags are delayed by the airline or carrier for 12 hours or more.

  • Overseas legal expenses up to £25,000 if you’re injured or become ill and this is caused by a third party.

  • Travel delay of £20 (up to £250) for every 12 hour delay to public transport, including flight delays.

As you would expect, exclusions, excesses and terms and conditions apply. Some of the key exclusions are shown below. You’re not covered:

  • If you travel against the advice of your doctor. You must tell ACE about medical conditions at the time of purchase and any change in health before you travel.

  • For travel to an area where the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised against all travel

  • Against financial failure of your travel provider or organiser.

If you are a 1|2|3 World customer or a Santander Select customer, you'll get a 30% discount when you apply online

The discounts apply to the main policy and to any optional cover extensions you may choose to buy. You’ll be asked to confirm you’re a Santander customer when you apply and your discount will automatically be applied to your quote when you’ve done this.

You must apply online to take advantage of these discounts.

Optional cover extensions
Several optional cover extensions are available for an additional premium:

  • Winter sports - includes up to 21 days cover for lost, stolen or damaged ski equipment of up to £500.

  • Excess waiver - reduces all excesses payable in the event of a claim to nil.

  • Trip duration - extends the number of consecutive days on an annual multi-trip policy to 62.

  • Hazardous activities (for example paragliding and mountain biking).

  • Golf - includes cover for lost, stolen or damaged golf equipment up to £1,000.

  • Cruise - for journeys abroad. Includes cover for missed port departure, cabin confinement and cruise interruption up to £1,000.

  • Business - includes cover for lost, stolen or damaged business equipment up to £2,000 and money up to £1,000.

As you would expect, certain exclusions will apply. Winter sports and hazardous activities are not covered if they are competitive, you’re not wearing the recommended safety equipment or have been advised against participating by a doctor. Hazardous activities are not covered if they form the main part of your holiday.

If you're eligible for a discount it will apply to any optional cover extensions as well as your main policy.

Discounts
To get the 20% discount on your travel insurance policy, you or any other named person on the policy must be an existing Santander customer. You will be asked to confirm this before you buy.

Alternatively, to get the 30% discount you or any other named person on the policy must be a Santander 1|2|3 World customer or a Santander Select customer.

Children go free
Free cover for children applies on family policies only. Up to 7 children under the age of 18 (or under the age of 23 if they are in full time education) may be named on the policy for no additional cost. They must be the child or grandchild (including step, fostered or adopted) of the policy holder or their partner and be a dependent child who is not married or living with their own partner. There may be a cost if cover is required for a child's medical condition.

All customers must meet the eligibility criteria for each offer.
