Santander UK has been awarded Top Employer status in the UK by the Top Employers Institute.

The international research undertaken annually by the Top Employers Institute recognises an organisation’s dedication to a better world of work and exhibits this through excellent HR policies and people practices.

The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. The survey assesses Santander’s employee offering against a number of criteria including: People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being and Diversity & Inclusion.

Santander UK’s Chief HR Officer Enrique Alvarez said: “We’re delighted to be recognised as a Top Employer for another year. In spite of a very challenging environment brought on by the pandemic, we’re proud of how we have continued to focus on creating a thriving workplace for all our colleagues, with a culture that prioritises wellbeing, develops the skills of people and promotes inclusion and diversity. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to make Santander a great company to work for that helps people and businesses prosper.”

Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink says: “Despite the challenging year we have experienced (which has certainly made an impact on organisations around the globe), Santander UK has continued to demonstrate the power of putting their people first in the workplace. We are proud to share this year’s announcement and congratulate the organisations who have been certified in their respective countries through the Top Employers Institute programme.”

Banco Santander has also been recognised as a Top Employer in Europe by the Top Employers Institute. The certification is granted when a company is considered a Top Employer in at least five countries on the continent. In this case, Santander received the certificate in three of its main markets in Europe (Spain, Poland and the UK) and its Santander Consumer Finance units in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, France and Belgium.
