Santander Select exclusive: Gold Visa debit card
As a Santander Select customer, you can request an exclusive Gold Visa debit card (for no additional cost) with your 1|2|3 Current Account. As well as everything you'd normally expect in a debit card it gives you:

  • an increased daily cash machine withdrawal limit of £750 at home and abroad

  • emergency cash within 24 hours if you lose your card whilst abroad. This service is provided worldwide except in Cuba, India, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria and Turkmenistan.

To benefit from cashback on your household bills and interest on your balance, you must:

  • pay at least £500 into your account each month. Any interest paid and payments between Santander personal accounts you're named on won't count towards this

  • have at least 2 active Direct Debits. You'll get monthly cashback on selected household bills you pay by Direct Debit.

You will earn:

Cashback can only be earned through household bills paid by Direct Debit. Household bills do not include TV licence, maintenance contracts (eg. boiler repair cover), other insurance contracts, commercial use or commercial mortgages.

Interest
Monthly interest of 1.50%
AER / 1.49% gross (variable) payable on your entire balance up to £20,000.

How it works

To get cashback on your household bills and interest on your balance, just follow these steps:

  • pay at least £500 into your account each month. Any interest paid and payments between Santander personal accounts you're named on won't count towards this

  • have at least 2 Direct Debits - you'll receive cashback on any qualifying household bills you pay by Direct Debit. 

When you fulfil these conditions we'll automatically work out how much interest you've earned and pay it into your account each month.

Using your debit card abroad

With the Santander Gold Visa debit card, you get free withdrawals at Santander branded cash machines abroad. We will waive the 2.75% foreign exchange fee as well as the £1.99/ 1.5% cash handling fee when you use Santander branded ATMs in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, the USA and when you use Santander ATMs in Brazil which display "Cirrus" and "Plus" brands. If your Visa debit card is not a Santander Select Gold Visa debit card you may be charged a foreign exchange fee as well as a cash handling fee for using it abroad.

Please note that some ATMs may give you the option to transact in Sterling or the local currency; please select the local currency option to avoid being charged fees.

Emergency cash service

If your Gold Visa debit card is lost or stolen abroad and you need some emergency cash, we can arrange with Visa for funds to be available to you within 24 hours. Visa will find the most convenient Western Union or suitable pick-up location, confirm the amount needed in the local currency and will let you know the opening hours for your desired location. In most cases you'll need to provide photo ID to collect the cash. If this has also been lost or stolen, Visa will discuss available options with you.

This service is provided worldwide, except in Cuba, India, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria and Turkmenistan. To arrange emergency cash, you can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on +44 1908 216674.

Fees you pay if your account is overdrawn

Arranged Overdraft Usage Fee The Arranged Overdraft Usage fee will depend on the amount you use:
Below £2,000 £1 a day
£2,000 to £2,999 £2 a day
£3,000 and over £3 a day
Before 9 January 2017 the Arranged Overdraft Usage Fee will be £1 per day for any amount of Arranged Overdraft you use.
Unarranged Overdraft Usage Fee £6 per day

You can use this account to:

  • set up Direct Debits and standing orders

  • pay bills

  • transfer money online including Faster Payments. 

The maximum mortgage payment amount that qualifies for cashback is £1,000 per month (for either single or multiple monthly Direct Debits). Mortgage cashback applies to Santander UK plc mortgages. Cashback paid monthly but may vary depending on how you pay your bill or insurance premium. The 1% cashback on water and council tax bills also applies to rates in Northern Ireland.

You may only hold a maximum of two 1|2|3 Current Accounts, one in your own name and one in joint names.

Transferring from another Santander current account

If you already have a Santander current account and want to transfer to the 1|2|3 Current Account, you can do so by calling us or visiting us in branch. If you are transferring from an account that is no longer on sale, you will not be able to revert back to your old account, and your statement date will be changed to align with the date of the transfer. Once the transfer has completed however, this can be changed to a specific date at your request.
