The Santander Smart Card is a multifunctional student identification card for use on university campuses. In September 2013 the initiative was launched at the University of Roehampton to more than 2,000 first year undergraduate students and university staff.
The Santander Smart Card has since launched at the University of Salford and Bath Spa University along with the continuation of producing the card to all new undergraduate and postgraduate students at Roehampton. We currently have over 21,000 Santander Smart Cards used across the three universities campuses today.
The card can be used for student identification, access to university buildings and library services. There is also the option to link the card to a Santander Student Current Account or International Student Account. Following the cards successful launch at University of Roehampton in 2013, Santander Universities has plans to launch the Santander Smart Card at a number of partner Universities in the future.
Almost 7.1 million university students across 12 countries are currently using the card developed by the bank in collaboration with more than 276 universities.
It can be used as personal identification and offers services such as the consultation of academic files at ATMs and information points installed on campus, administration of library loans, and access control to restricted areas and computer equipment.
