Existing mortgage customers changing deals

Find a new deal, move home, borrow more or make changes to your existing mortgage

It's fast and easy to change to a new deal if:

  • your current Santander mortgage deal is coming to an end; or

  • you're already on our Standard Variable Rate; or

  • your current Santander mortgage deal does not have an early repayment charge (excluding Flexible Offset mortgages).

As an existing mortgage customer, we don't do a credit search, you don't normally need a property valuation, there are no legal fees and you don't need to change your Direct Debit. 

Ways you can change your deal

Online
Go online if you're happy to pick the right deal for your circumstances without advice. Compare all the deals available to you in the comfort of your own home. This is what you need to do.

  1. Enter a few details about you and your mortgage and confirm your eligibility to use the service. It will help to have your latest mortgage statement to hand.

  2. View all the deals available to you, see what your monthly payments could be and then select the new deal you want.

  3. We'll then send you the paperwork to sign and return to us within 14 days.

  4. Your new deal will then be set up and the transfer date confirmed to you by email or text message. Normally this date will be when your current deal finishes or as soon as we have processed your signed paperwork if you are on our Standard Variable Rate or a product without an early repayment charge.

They’ll then be able to recommend the most suitable deal for you.

All applications are subject to status and our lending criteria. This means that the amount we will lend you will depend on your individual circumstances, the type of property and the amount you borrow. For example, we may require a higher deposit if you are buying a flat or a new build property.

Frequently asked questions

  • If your current deal has an Early Repayment Charge your mortgage will transfer to the new deal when your current deal ends.

     

    If you don't have an Early Repayment Charge to pay we'll transfer you to the new deal when we've received your signed paperwork.

     

    We'll always confirm your conversion date by email or text message. 

  • If you have entered the account number shown on your latest Mortgage Statement and you were unable to sign in, unfortunately you can’t use the online service. However, we have Mortgage Advisers available to talk to you and if you would like to know the deals that are currently available then please call us on
    0800 068 6462.
     

  • We can only transfer your current deal online if you keep all the details of your existing mortgage the same. If you wish to make any changes to your mortgage including changing your method of repayment, your term or borrowing more then you will need to call us on 0800 068 6462.

  • If you have not signed and returned the paperwork then please just destroy the paperwork.

    If you've already signed and returned the paperwork to us:

    • If you were on our Standard Variable Rate then your mortgage will have already been transferred onto the deal you selected.

    • If you are within four months from the end of your existing deal then please call us on 0800 068 6462, as your mortgage will have been set up to transfer to the new deal automatically when your existing deal ends. We will need to check the current status of your transfer and inform you of your options.

  • The Fixed and Tracker rate mortgage deals online are the same as the deals available over the phone. However, if you are thinking about transferring your mortgage to a Flexible Offset mortgage you will need to call us on 0800 068 6462.
