This is a paper-free account which means:

  • Your documents, statements and some of your letters will be sent as an e-Document to your secure inbox on Online Banking (unless you require documents in an alternative format, such as braille)

  • To open the account, you'll need to provide us with an email address as you'll receive an email when a document is ready to view.

  • Once the account has been open for at least 24 hours, you can update your account settings at any time to start receiving statements and other correspondence by post. You will still be able to earn cashback as long as you continue to meet the criteria below.

To get cashback on your household bills, just follow these steps:

  • Pay at least £500 into your account each month - any interest paid and payments between Santander personal accounts you're named on won't count towards this

  • Have at least two active Direct Debits - you'll receive cashback on any qualifying household bills you pay by Direct Debit

  • Log on to Online or Mobile Banking at least once in every three months

Remember, if you switch your current account to us, we'll move it across in 7 working days, so you can start earning cashback.

You will earn:

Cashback Cashback categories
 1% cashback  on water and council tax bills and the first £1,000 you pay towards your Santander monthly residential mortgage payment

Interest

The 1|2|3 Lite Current Account does not pay any interest on balances. If you’re looking for an account that pays interest, you might want to consider our 1|2|3 Current Account or our range of savings accounts.

What you need to do to earn cashback

  • Log onto Online or Mobile Banking at least once in every three months

When you fulfil these conditions we'll automatically work out how much cashback you've earned and pay it into your account each month.

If you'd like to switch to us from another bank or building society we'll move all your Direct Debits, standing orders and your salary. We'll close your old current account and make sure any payments to and from your old account are redirected to your 1|2|3 Lite Current Account for 36 months.

Overdraft fees

Arranged Overdraft Usage Fee  The Arranged Overdraft Usage Fee will depend on the amount you use:
 Below £2,000   £1 a day
 £2,000 to £2,999.99  £2 a day
 £3,000 and over  £3 a day
Unarranged Overdraft Usage Fee  £6 per day  

The 1|2|3 Lite Current Account has a monthly cap for unarranged overdraft fees of £95. A total overdraft fee cap of £95 will also apply to your account meaning if you incur any arranged and/or unarranged fees in any monthly statement period, these will never be more than £95 in total.

If you try to make a payment that would take you into an Unarranged Overdraft, we'll decide whether or not to pay it depending on your circumstances.

Cashback paid monthly, with the exception of the mobile spend cashback offer which will be paid in November. The maximum mortgage payment account that qualifies for cashback is £1,000 per month (for either single or multiple monthly Direct Debits). Mortgage cashback applies to Santander UK plc mortgages. The 1% cashback on water and council tax bills also applies to rates in Northern Ireland.

Switching your existing current account to the 1|2|3 Lite Current Account

Stress-free switching in just 7 working days

  • Our dedicated switcher team will switch all of your Direct Debits, standing orders and your salary or other income

  • You can choose when your switch starts - if you're switching from another provider this can be the day your account is opened or up to 60 days later

  • Your switch will only take 7 working days

  • We'll keep you updated of progress by letter, text and e-mail

How to switch

If you don't already have a Santander Current Account, you can apply online or in a branch. We'll ask you during the application if you want to switch an account you hold elsewhere to Santander.

If you're an existing customer and you have an account with another provider that you would like to switch to your existing Santander account, please visit your local branch.

To switch you'll need to give us

  • your existing sort code and account number

  • your existing debit card number and expiry date. If you're switching a joint account to us, we'll need the debit card details for all applicants.

Receiving your statements

  • Never share a Santander One Time Passcode (OTP) with another person. Not even a Santander employee.

You can apply for a new 1|2|3 Lite Current Account online in just 10 minutes if you:

  • are 18 years old or over

  • live in the UK for tax purposes

  • agree to log on to Online or Mobile Banking at least once every 3 months (unless you require alternative statement formats, e.g. Braille or larger print)

  • agree that this is a paper-free account which means your documents, statements and some of your letters will be sent as an e-Document to your secure inbox on Online Banking (unless you require documents in an alternative format, such as braille). Once the account has been open for at least a 24 hours, you can update your account settings at any time to start receiving statements and other correspondence by post.

  • provide us with a valid email address. We'll use this to let you know when we have sent you an e-Document

    Will my Direct Debits earn me cashback?

  • To earn cashback you must pay in at least £500 a month, set up a minimum of two active Direct Debits and log on to Online or Mobile Banking at least once in every three months. Once you meet this criteria, cashback will be calculated on eligible Direct Debit payments made in the statement period.    

     

    Cashback is paid into your account on the same day each month, depending on the date you opened or transferred your account. You can check your statement or log in to Online Banking to find out when we pay your cashback.

     

    Mobile spend cashback offer

    • Any cashback earned from the mobile spend cashback offer will be paid into your account in November.
       
  • This is a paper-free account which means your documents, statements and some of your letters will be sent as an e-Document to your secure inbox on Online Banking (unless you require documents in an alternative format, such as braille). To open the account, you'll need to provide us with an email address as we will usually let you know when you have an eDocument available to view. Once the account has been open for at least 24 hours, you can update your account settings at any time to start receiving statements and other correspondence by post. You can do this by logging on to Online Banking, calling us on 0800 9 123 123 or by going into your local branch. This will not affect your ability to earn cashback.

  • A statement period usually runs from the monthly anniversary of the date you opened or transferred your account, unless you've asked for it to be changed.

     

    For example, if your statement date is the 18th of the month, your monthly statement period will cover the period from the 18th of one month until the 17th of the next.

     

    Where we talk about a month in relation to your account, we're referring to the monthly statement period. When we ask you to fund the account each month, or talk about paying cashback monthly - for example - we mean the monthly statement period.

     

    Please note we are making changes to how we send paper statements. For more information please visit the changes to your account page. These changes do not affect your monthly statement period.
     

AER explained
AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and shows what the interest rate would be if we paid interest and added it to your account each year.

Gross rate explained
The gross rate is the interest rate we pay where no income tax has been deducted.
Rates may change and we pay interest each month.

EAR explained
EAR stands for Effective Annual Rate and represents the yearly cost of an overdraft, which takes account of how often we charge interest to the account, and does not include any other fees or charges. Overdrafts depend on your circumstances and you must repay any overdraft when we ask in line with our General Terms and Conditions.
