A Student Account designed to support you while you study

Our Student Account - gives you what you need from an account so you can concentrate on studying

Our Student Account comes with mobile, gadget and laptop insurance, worth over £240 each year. It also gives you financial support with 0% EAR (typical) overdraft of up to £2,000 (£1,000 in first year) plus we pay you a great interest rate on balances up to £500.

- Mobile phone insurance – we’ll repair or replace your phone if it’s damaged or breakdown, and   replace your phone if it’s stolen.

 

- Gadget insurance – we’ll provide cover for two gadgets if they are stolen, damaged or breakdown, including items like MP3 players and games consoles.

 

- Laptop insurance – we’ll protect your laptop or personal computer if it is stolen.

  • 0% EAR (typical) overdraft – starting at £1,000 and then increasing up to a maximum of £2000 (depending on your year of study and providing a minimum of £500 has been credited to the account, until you credit the required £500 the overdraft will be £250).

  • Essentials - includes a Visa debit card for easy, secure withdrawals and purchases.

  • Earn - 2.00% AER/1.98% gross interest on the money in your account on balances up to £500. (Note 1).

  • Easy access – you can withdraw up to £300 daily and free of charge, at over 1300 Santander or LINK cash machines in the UK.

  • Online banking - for 24-hour access to your bank account.


We have designed these insurance benefits to meet the needs of customers who wish to insure their mobile phone and electronic device(s) against risk of theft, breakdown and damage and their laptop or personal computers against the risk of theft.

* Exclusions and limitations apply, and further details can be found in the policy summary and policy document. You must provide proof of purchase or ownership when claiming.

Note 1: We will not pay you interest on any amount over £500.


How to apply


If this is your first Student account and you are in your first year of study, you can apply online today, it should only take you about 10 minutes.


To apply online you will need to:

  • be at least 18 years of age

  • be living permanently in the UK

  • in the first year of an undergraduate course, HND or nursing training (at least a two-year course), or a postgraduate studying a full-time course at university or college, for example an MBA or MSc (at least a one-year course);

Once you have applied you will need to provide proof of identity and/or proof of the course you are studying (this can be a letter from UCAS or your university confirming that you have place on the course). We will email you within 3 working days, to confirm what you need to do next.
