1|2|3 Mini Current Account features:

Earn interest on your balance:

From 6 April 2016, interest is received gross, with no income tax deducted. Take a look at our information pages to learn more

3.00% AER/2.96% gross (variable) From £300 to £2,000

This means that once you have £100 in your account you will start to earn interest and this is earned on the first £2,000 that is in your account.

You'll also benefit from:

  • Free text alerts to help you keep track of money going in and out of your account

  • The choice of a cash card or a Visa contactless debit card

  • Retailer Offers lets you earn cashback when you use your Santander debit or credit card. This service is available to you if you use Online or Mobile Banking and are aged 16 years or over.

  • Manage your account easily - with our mobile banking apps your account is always within close reach.


Our overdraft services aren't available on this account. Generally, this means we won't let you make a payment out of your account if you don't have enough money in it. However, very occasionally, there may be times where you make a payment that we can't stop, which will take your account balance below zero. We won't charge you for this.

Only one account per child may be held, which may be either the 1|2|3 Mini Account (in Trust) or the 1|2|3 Mini Current Account (but not one of each).



Your very own mini current account

If you're aged between 11 and 18 and want to take your first steps towards financial responsibility, the 1|2|3 Mini Current Account could be for you.

The account will be in your name, which means you're in control. You can keep track of your money with your phone or computer, or visit one of our branches if you'd like to check your account or ask us a question.

If you're one of our younger customers you can ask an adult for any help you might need. However as it's your account, they won't be able to manage it for you. 

Account alerts - By 2nd February 2018 we’ll automatically send you alerts about your balance and payments e.g. when you’re in a negative balance, a payment has gone unpaid or you need to pay money in to cover a payment. These alerts are free, and will be sent by text message or email if we don’t have your mobile number.

Once your account has been registered for these alerts, you can update your alert settings, including switching the alerts off,  at any time by logging onto Online Banking, visiting one of our branches or by calling us on 0800 9 123 123.

Protect yourself from fraud

It’s very important that you keep your banking details private and secure.

  • Never share a Santander One Time Passcode (OTP) with another person. Not even a Santander employee.
  • Never download software or let anyone log on to your computer or devices remotely during or after a cold call.
  • Never enter your Online Banking details after clicking on a link in an email or text message.

You can apply online today if you are:

  • aged between 11 and 18 years old and;

  • living permanently in the UK

Or you can pop into your local branch. An appointment may need to be booked. Find your nearest branch

Remember, you'll need to bring some proof of your name and address. If applying online you may need to provide ID by post in order to be able to open an account. See a list of acceptable identification.

What happens after you apply?

  • We'll process your application within 5 working days of receiving it

  • We'll then notify you asking you to provide some identification

  • We'll open your new account within 5 working days of receiving your identification and signed application form

  • When we've opened your account, we'll send you your new card and pin, to the address you provided (for added security they'll arrive separately)
