Step 3: How much is your home worth?

It’s a good idea to do some research to give you a better understanding of the value of your home.

Ask a few estate agents to value your home – they’ll know what similar homes have sold for in your area recently and are well placed to advise you on a price which isn’t too high to put off potential buyers or too low to not give you what your home is actually worth.

They will normally do this free of charge. And remember, getting a valuation from a particular agency doesn’t commit you to using them to sell your home.

You can also do some research yourself online using websites including those suggested in the next section.

Important Information

YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.

All applications are subject to status and our lending criteria. This means that the amount we’ll lend you will depend on your individual circumstances, the type of property and the amount you borrow. For example, we may require a bigger deposit if you’re buying a flat or new build property.
