With all our policies:
You’re covered for damage from fire, smoke, lightning, explosion, earthquake, storm and flood, theft and escape of water. We offer buildings only, contents only or combined building and contents policies.

A discount is available for existing Santander and Santander Select Customers
At Santander we value customer loyalty and we reward our existing customers whenever we can.

  • Santander Select Customers or Santander 1|2|3 Customers get a 30% discount on Options Home Insurance.

    To qualify for the 30% discount you must either be a Santander Select Customer or Santander 1|2|3 Customer. A 1|2|3 customer is someone who holds one or more of the following products:

    1|2|3 Credit Card, 1|2|3 Current Account, 1|2|3 Graduate Current Account, 1|2|3 Student Current Account, 1|2|3 Postgraduate Current Account, 1|2|3 Mini Current Account or 1|2|3 Mini Account (in Trust). Trustees are not classed as 1|2|3 World customers. To be eligible for 1|2|3 offers you must be a 1|2|3 World Customer in your own right. All customers must meet the eligibility criteria for each offer.

    If you qualify for the 30% discount, you will receive this instead of, and not in addition to the 20% discount.

  • Other existing Santander customers get a 20% discount.

Discounts apply for the first year only on new policies. Optional extras (Family Legal Protection and Home Assistance) are excluded from the discount. Your 1|2|3 product must be open before you request your home insurance quote.

Standard protection with our buildings insurance includes cover for:

  • up to £750,000 of buildings cover depending on the sum insured

  • fire, storm and flood

  • vandalism and theft

  • leaks and subsidence

  • accidental damage to glass, ceramic hobs and bathroom fittings

  • solar panels and source heating pumps if they were professionally installed

  • lost or stolen keys – up to £500

  • emergency access – damage caused by fire, ambulance or police services if they have to make a forced entry to your home as a result of an emergency.

To protect you from accidental damage such as accidents during DIY, you can purchase optional extended accidental damage cover.

Standard protection with our contents insurance includes cover for:

  • up to £99,000 of contents cover depending on the amount of cover selected

  • new for old – terms and conditions apply. Please refer to the policy documentextra cover for weddings, Christmas or other religious events – 10% increase in the sum insured for a month either side of the event

  • freezer contents – up to £500

  • garden contents – up to £1,000

  • cash theft – up to £500 per incident

  • credit cards or the cost of replacement – up to £500 per incident

  • garage or outbuildings theft – up to £2,000

  • accidental damage – home entertainment equipment

  • bicycles under £350

  • electronic data downloads - e.g. iTunes, up to £250 per claim with a maximum of £1,000

Additional accidental damage cover can be purchased to provide cover for unfortunate accidents such as paint spillages on a sofa or carpet.

Family Legal Protection
Administered by ACM ULR Ltd and underwritten by AmTrust Europe Ltd

Our Family Legal Protection is designed to help you through difficult and often stressful legal situations. Family Legal Protection provides you with the following:

  • Up to £50,000 worth of financial support per incident for your legal costs (subject to a £100 excess)
     

  • Confidential legal helpline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
     

  • Cover for specific disputes relating to property, employment and consumer disputes, and personal injury claims

Family Legal Protection does not provide cover for all legal issues, for example matrimonial disputes or custody access.
Any claims made under this cover will not impact on your home insurance policy. Terms and conditions, restrictions and exclusions apply. Please see policy documents for more information which are available when you request a quote.

Home Assistance
Administered by ARAG plc and underwritten by Brit Insurance Ltd

Home Assistance could help protect you in the event of a domestic emergency. This is a 24 hour service that in the event of an emergency provides you with:

  • No call-out charges
     

  • Up to 2 hours labour
     

  • Parts & materials up to the maximum of £100
     

  • Alternative accommodation costs up to the maximum of £250 (inclusive of VAT)
     

  • A total of £1,000 of cover for the period insured, irrespective of the number of claims made

Home Assistance is not a service or maintenance product and does not cover the breakdown of domestic appliances, for example washing machines, nor does it cover incidents related to the repair of parts that are failing due to natural wear and tear, for example dripping taps.

Emergencies covered include:

  • Breakdown of the main heating system in your home
     

  • Plumbing and drainage problems
     

  • Loss of domestic power supply
     

  • Home security, including locks and windows
     

  • Vermin infestation/pest control inside the property

No excess is payable in the event of a claim. Any claims made under this cover will not impact on your home insurance policy.

Discount Offer Terms and Conditions:

When applying for a new Options Home Insurance policy, Santander customers will receive either:

1) a 20% discount

OR

2) a 30% discount.

The 1|2|3 product must be open before the home insurance quote is requested. If you cancel or close the 1|2|3 product either before the home insurance starts or during the term of the home insurance, we reserve the right to withdraw the discount applied for the remaining period of cover.

Excludes Santander Options Home Insurance policies bought through price comparison websites.

Where the policy is paid for in monthly instalments the discount will be applied over the monthly instalments.

The discounts will apply for the first year only on all new policies. Any optional extras (Family Legal Protection and Home Assistance) are excluded from the discount.
