If you are switching to Santander then there will be no Arranged Overdraft Usage Fee for the first 4 months. Assumed Arranged Overdraft credit limit: £1,200. Actual credit limit may differ. Arranged Overdraft Usage Fee depends on the amount of overdraft you are using.

We will switch your current account in 7 working days.
|Starting your switch|
|You choose when your switch starts – this can be up to 60 days in the future. Please provide us with your old account sort code, account number and debit card details.|
|Switch start date (Day 1)|
|On your chosen switch start date, we’ll ask your old bank for a list of your payments (for example, standing orders and Direct Debits). Please tell us if you would like to receive progress updates by text, email or letter.|
|Transfer (Days 2 to 6)|
|We’ll set up the payments on your Santander account, and we’ll tell the companies you pay by Direct Debit to collect future payments from your new account. We’ll also let people know who pay money into your account to send it to your new account from now on.|
|Completion (Day 7)|
Your switch is complete. If you have a positive balance, it will be transferred to your Santander account. If you have an overdrawn balance, you’ll need to clear it with your old bank. Your old bank or building society account will be closed.
From the day your switch completes we'll automatically redirect any payments from your old account to your Santander account and we'll also contact the sender to give them your new account details. We'll do this for a period of three years or longer, in accordance with the Current Account Switch Agreement. This means there's no need to worry about missing any payments.

Any payments switched from your old account will start coming out of your Santander account, so you should make sure you have enough money in your new account to cover them.
How to switch
Switching to Santander is stress-free and can be completed in just 7 working days. Check if your current bank or building society is signed up to the Current Account Switch Service
If you don't already hold a Santander Current Account, you can apply online, in branch. We will ask you during the application if you want to switch an account you hold elsewhere to Santander.
If you're an existing customer we can also arrange to switch a current account you hold elsewhere to your existing Santander current account. Simply visit your local branch. An appointment may need to be booked.
To switch you'll need to give us
your existing sort code and account number
your existing debit card number and expiry date. If you are switching a joint account to us, we'll need the debit card details for all applicants.
It's a free service that lets you switch your current account from one participating bank or building society to another. It has been designed to be simple, reliable and hassle free and is backed by the Current Account Switch Guarantee.
Yes, you can choose and agree a date with your new bank or building society and the process will start six working days before that date. (Working days are Monday to Friday excluding bank and public holidays.)
You can choose to switch to Santander from a bank or building society that is not a participant in the Current Account Switch Service. If you choose not to use the Current Account Switch Service please be advised that features specific to the Current Account Switch Service do not apply. The Current Account Switch Service will redirect payments to your new account. Each time an electronic payment is redirected an automatic message is sent back to the originator advising them of the new account details so they can update their records. Some organizations may contact you directly to confirm your details have changed.
The Current Account Switch Service is backed by the Current Account Switch Guarantee. This guarantees that any charges or interest incurred on your old or new account, as a result of a failure in the switching process will be refunded when you bring this to your new bank or building society’s attention.
No, providing you repay any outstanding overdraft(s) on your previous account(s) as required by your old bank or building society. If there are any problems with payments (as part of the switching process) your new bank or building society will correct them and ensure your credit rating is not affected.
Yes, and your new bank or building society may be able to provide facilities to help you pay off any overdraft, subject to their normal lending criteria. If this isn’t the case you must make separate arrangements to repay your old bank or building society what you owe.
You will be able to access the funds in your old account up to and until your switch date when they will be transferred to your new account.
High Street banks and building societies and Internet and Telephone banks that display the 'Current Account Switch Guarantee’ Trustmark will offer the Current Account Switch Service. You can find a list of participating organisations at www.currentaccountswitch.co.uk
The Current Account Switch Service is for current accounts only. This includes personal, small business and charity current accounts.
Small business accounts are those with an annual turnover of no more than £6.5 million and with fewer than 50 employees. Small charities have an annual income of less than £6.5 million and small trusts with a net asset value of less than £6.5 million.
If you’re not sure if you qualify please ask your new bank or building society to confirm. If you'd like to switch other account types, such as a savings account, you will need to ask your new bank or building society if they're able to help you do this.
The Current Account Switch Service should not interfere with this process and any debit card transactions that you have asked your bank to stop should remain so after your switch.
You may be able to transfer your payments to your new bank without redirecting payments from your old account, and you should discuss this requirement with your new bank.
You will receive any positive balance on Day 7 (your switch completion date). Please be aware that the transfer will take place between 6am and 12pm, so there may be a short amount of time when you may not have funds available to you (unless of course, you have already paid in some money directly into your new Santander current account). The short delay is due to the fact that your funds will leave your old account and transfer to your new one (via Faster Payment) ; but after 12pm at the latest, your money will be cleared and available to use from your Santander current account.

Before Day 1 and up to seven working days before your switch date - we can stop your switch before it has started.
Day 1 to Day 6 - your switch must still complete and your old account will close. We will cancel all redirection of your payments in and out from your switch date.
Day 7 onwards - your switch will have already completed including any balance transfer. We will cancel all further redirection of your payments in and out of your new Santander account. This means if you wish to switch to another current account provider, you will need to instruct them to switch your Santander account to them.
1 7 Day switch is guaranteed under the Current Account Switch Guarantee when you switch from a bank or building society that is also a member of the Current Account Switch Service. Switch completes in 7 working days.
EAR stands for Effective Annual Rate and represents the yearly cost of an overdraft, which takes account of how often we charge interest to the account, and does not include any other fees or charges.
Overdrafts depend on your circumstances and you must repay any overdraft when we ask in line with our General Terms and Conditions.
