How can I find out how much you might be able to lend me for a new property?

You can visit our "How much can I borrow" calculator to see how much we might be able to lend you for a new property.  You can also speak to our mortgage advisors on 0800 023 2761.   We're open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm.

All applications are subject to status and our current lending criteria.  This means that the amount we will lend you will depend on your individual circumstances, the type of property and the amount you borrow.  For example, we may require a higher deposit if you are buying a flat or a new build property

What interest rates are available if I want to take a new mortgage?

You can view and compare Santander mortgage rates using our mortgage calculator.  It will then show you all rates that are currently available based on what you've entered into the calculator. It also gives you an indication of what the monthly payments could be plus any booking fees.  You can also speak to our mortgage advisors on 0800 023 2761.  We're open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm and Saturday 8pm to 4pm

How do I apply to move my mortgage to a new house?

Can I speak to an advisor about borrowing more money on my mortgage?

How do I register for the Online Mortgage Service?

If you have a Flexible Offset mortgage and would like to take advantage of our online service, please call us on 0845 600 0346*. We're open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 7pm, and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

New to Santander Online Banking: When you register to use this service you'll be sent a Personal ID, Passcode and Registration number which will then allow you to access your mortgage account using the internet. You can select to either 'View' your details, or have the facility to 'View and Transact'. All accounts you hold with Santander that can be viewed online will be available using the same login

Please note: If there are two or more people on the Mortgage a 'View and Transact' form will need to be completed and returned. Click here to download the form.

How do I notify you of a change of details for my mortgage?

If you want to change your details, please call us on 0845 600 0346 (international number 00 44 1908 719 108). We're open Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm, and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

If you have a mortgage account which begins with 0905, please call us on 0845 716 5905 (international number 00 44 1908 719 126). We're open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 7pm, and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

If you want to speak about an ex National & Provisional mortgage, please call us on 0845 735 3537 (international number 00 44 1908 719 121). We're open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm, and Saturday 9am to 2pm.

In order to have your name changed on your mortgage account we require an original document or a certified copy of an original document using the details below.  This can be certified via your local branch.

For a change of name due to marriage we require:

  • Original or certified copy of the marriage certificate 
  • Copy of English translation if married in another country 
  • Original or Certified copy of Civil Partnership Certificate
     

For a change due to divorce we require:

  • Original or certified copy of Decree Absolute
  • Original or certified copy of Birth Certificate showing maiden name
     

For a change due to Deed Poll:

  • Original or certified copy of the Deed Poll Certificate

How do I borrow more money?

We have a range of Additional Loans, which are loans secured against your home.  There is an Additional Lending Calculator which provides a quick and simple way to find out how much your payments could be.  To apply you can speak to our mortgage advisors on 0800 092 3881.  We're open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm

How do I change the deal on my existing mortgage?

If you have less than 4 months remaining on your current mortgage deal and your existing mortgage is with Santander or Alliance & Leicester you can contact us on 0800 092 3881 to book a new deal which you will then automatically transfer to at the end of your current deal.

If however you have more than 4 months remaining on your current mortgage deal, then in order to move to a new deal you would need to pay an Early Repayment Charge (if one is applicable).

How do I withdraw funds on my flexible mortgage?

In order to drawdown on your mortgage you must have sufficient available funds or funds in your savings pot.

If your mortgage account is in arrears, these must be cleared before a drawdown can be actioned.  These can be cleared using your available funds or via a manual payment, depending upon the Flexible mortgage held

You can drawdown from a flexible mortgage which has a linked savings pot via the internet (if you have online access), via the phone or in writing to the Mortgage Centre.

Drawdowns must be paid to the bank account which you pay your monthly mortgage payment from or in a cheque made payable to all parties on the mortgage.  Please specify this on your request.

There is an administration fee applicable if there have already been three requests made in the same calendar year. A fee may also be applicable if funds are released via Telegraphic Transfer depending upon the Flexible mortgage held.

How do I order a redemption statement for my current mortgage?

How do I make a capital repayment?

You can make a Capital Repayment/Reduction at any Santander branch, or by sending a cheque to our Mortgage Centre 

It you are on a product any Capital Reduction made may be subject to an Early Repayment Charge. Any special conditions will be noted in your Offer papers / terms and conditions.

For ex Alliance & Leicester mortgage accounts, any Capital Reduction made outside of January, and dependant upon your special product, may be subject to an Early Repayment Charge.  Any special conditions will be noted in your Offer papers / terms and conditions.

Please phone us if you would like more information before making the Capital Reduction.

You will receive a letter within 5 working days confirming the Capital Repayment has been applied to your account.

How do I order a duplicate mortgage statement?

You will need to pay an administration fee per calendar year for any interim or duplicate statement requested.  This can be paid in a branch by cash or cheque, by sending a cheque to the Mortgage Centre or you may be able to add it to your next Direct Debit by calling us.

Please be aware duplicate statements can take up to 15 days to be issued and delivered.

How do I correct the address that shows on my mortgage paperwork?

In order to amend your property details, we require a written request signed by all parties to the mortgage. 

Depending on the amendment required, we may later request a copy of a utility bill before making the change.

How do I let my property out?

You must gain consent to let your property.  Failure to do this could mean you are in breach of your mortgage Terms & Conditions.  There may be a fee to let your property and you will be advised by our Lettings Team once they receive the Consent to Let application. 

The exceptions are on any mortgage that:

 - completed within the last six months

 - is on a Flexible mortgage product

 - is in arrears

How do I change my current repayment method?

How do I change the term on my existing mortgage?

If you wish to change the term on your existing mortgage please contact us on 0845 600 3530, our lines are open from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 2pm Saturday.

Before we can extend the term on your existing Santander or Alliance & Leicester mortgage we will need to review your circumstances.  This review will be done over the phone and could take up to one and a half hours.  We'll review details of your income and expenditure during the appointment and we may require evidence to your application.  We will then decide if your term can be extended.

Please note, it may take up to 3 weeks to change the term on your mortgage once it's been agreed.

I am having difficulties making my mortgage repayments.  What should I do?
