To upgrade to our Reward Account you need to hold an existing Preferred In-Credit or Preferred Overdraft Bank Account.

Great rates of interest

 

Our Travel Reward Bank Account pays up to 5% AER (variable) (see note 1) on balances up to £2,500 for 12 months, when you pay in £1,000 each month.

 

After this time, you will benefit from a great rate of 2.5% AER (variable) (see note 1), on balances up to £2500 when you pay in £1,000 a month.

 

You will also benefit from a fantastic overdraft rate, which is usually 12.9% EAR (see note 2).

 

If you do not pay £1000 per month you will receive an interest rate of 0.1% and an overdraft rate of 19.9%.

You’re covered for cancelling your trip, cutting your trip short, missing your transport, personal accident, medical-emergency expenses, personal property, losing your passport or driving licence, personal public liability, travel delay, legal costs, winter sports, and golf cover.

Card loss assistance - help if you lose your card;

Losing your cards can be a big worry, but one call to our card-protection line will help put your mind at ease. Call us and we will cancel any of your debit, credit, charge, store and other cards for you. If your cards have been lost or stolen, we will ask the card issuers to send you replacements. And if you need it, we will even arrange to send you some emergency cash.

 

Mobile phone insurance

 

We will give you up to £300 of cover if your mobile is lost, stolen, damaged or breaks down while it is being used by you or up to two authorised users. We’ll also cover you for any unauthorised calls made from your mobile, up to a value of £1000. If you have a joint Travel Reward Bank Account, your policy covers two handsets.

 

Lost and found service - for travel luggage

 

To help keep tabs on your luggage during your journey, we can give you a set of coded labels for your luggage and other possessions. If someone then finds your items, they can use the details on the label to contact us. We will then get in touch with you so that you can get your possessions back.

 

Airport lounge access

 

Airport Angel takes the stress out of flying. With access to 300 airport lounges around the world for the primary account holder, you can escape the crowds and relax before boarding. You’ll also receive helpful texts to keep you updated on the status of your flight.  Applicable to main account holder only.

 

Key protection

 

If you need your keys and locks replacing in an emergency, we will cover your costs up to £500. We’ll also give you help finding a locksmith in an emergency if you can’t enter your home, office or vehicle. If your keys are accidentally locked inside or broken in the lock, we’ll cover up to £50 for each incident for locksmiths’ costs.

Note 1: AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and shows what the interest rate would be if we paid interest and added it to your account each year. The gross rate is the interest rate we pay before income tax is taken off.

 

Note 2: EAR stands for Effective Annual Rate and represents the annual cost of an overdraft, which takes into account how often interest is charged to the account, and does not include any other fees or charges


 

 

How to Apply

 

You can apply if you:

  • are at least 18 years old and living permanently in the UK 
  • have a valid email address (we will contact you by email about your application and to confirm the account is open). 
  • have an existing Preferred-In Credit or Preferred Overdraft Bank account. (You can check this by looking at the top of any recent statement from us or at a Santander cash machine).  

 

What you need to do

  • You need to fill in the online application form.  This should take about 5 minutes. 
  • We recommend that you add ‘customerservices@santander.co.uk’ to your email contacts. This should help prevent our emails to you being filtered out by your internet service provider.

 

What we do

  • We aim, within three working days, to process your application and send you an e mail. 
  • This e mail will either be to confirm that we have upgraded your account or to ask for any more information we may need from you before we can complete the upgrade. 
  • Once we have upgraded your account, we will send you, within seven to 10 working days, a welcome pack to your home address.
