Which Bank Account?

> I want an account that rewards me for being in credit

This account will pay you 5.00% AER/ 4.89% gross (fixed) (see note 1) on balances up to £2,500 for the first year. After 1 year the rate changes to 1.00% gross/AER (variable) applies you get these rates when you pay £1000 into your account each month.

Plus you’ll get £100 when you switch to us using our Account Transfer Service and pay in at least £1,000 a month.

We will not pay you interest on any amount over £500, or on your whole balance if you do not make the required payments into your account.

> I’m looking for an account with an interest-free overdraft facility

Switch to Santander and with the preferred overdraft rate you’ll receive an interest free overdraft (depending on your circumstances) for 12 months when you pay £1,000 or more each month into your account. After this, it changes to our standard preferred overdraft rate (currently Typical 12.90% EAR (variable) (see Note 2).

>I want an account with a high in-credit interest rate and no charges

Our unique Zero Current Account is available to our mortgage and investment customers. It is the only current account on the market to offer features such as no fees if you exceed your overdraft and no fees from us when you use cash machines or your debit card anywhere in the world. It also pays you a high credit interest rate for the first 12 months.

> I’m looking for an account with additional features and benefits

The 11-15 current account is a great way of getting into the swing of saving and managing your money. It comes with a Visa Debit or cash card and 3.00% AER/2.96% gross (variable) (see note 1) interest.

> I’m aged 16 to 18 and want a new account

The 16-18 account offers all the features of the 11-15 account plus a Visa Electron card and chequebook.

> I’m just heading off to university

Our student and graduate accounts are a great companion for your time at university. These accounts offer all the benefits of our bank account, together with an interest-free overdraft of up to £2,000.

> I’ve recently graduated

This account is designed to help you get into working life. It includes all the benefits of our bank account, plus a three-year interest-free overdraft of up to £2,000.

> I’m looking for a basic, no-frills account

This is our most straightforward account – giving you financial control, without any complications. There’s no chequebook, overdraft or interest, just a safe place to keep your money.

Note 1 AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and shows what the interest would be if we paid interest and added it each year. Rates may change and we pay interest each month.

Note 2 EAR stands for Effective Annual Rate and represents the yearly cost of an overdraft, which takes into account how often interest is charged to the account and does not include any other fees or charges.Overdrafts depend on your circumstances and you must repay any overdraft when we ask in line with our General Terms and Conditions
